Mixing alcohol and drugs

Mixing alcohol and medication can sometimes be a fearsome cocktail. Alcohol dangerously amplifies the effects of many medications (tranquilizers, sleeping pills, certain antibiotics, antihistamines and anti-inflammatories). It can also modify, counteract or accentuate the effects of other drugs such as antidepressants, anxiolytics and barbiturates. Mixing alcohol and benzodiazepines can lead to uncontrolled reactions, with loss of memory of what you've done, violence, aggression and even suicidal acts. Abstinence is therefore essential !
