Quick and easy meals
When you're in the middle of exams, you don't always take the time to cook. But eating well is essential! Try to divide your diet into 3 meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and 3 snacks (ten o'clock, afternoon snack and evening snack).
If you don't have a lot of time to devote to preparing your meals, you'll be pleased to know that supermarkets offer a whole range of ready-to-eat meals (shepherd's pie, lasagne, fish, gratin dauphinois, couscous and other ready-to-eat dishes) that you simply have to heat up. You'll also find ready-to-use sauces, vegetables and other delicacies.
Don't hesitate to cook a larger quantity of food (pasta, potatoes, semolina, rice, meat...) to make a cold dish for the next day. Don't forget to put the surplus in an airtight box in the fridge to preserve the food.
This way, you can create a whole host of quick and easy meals, and vary the pleasures ! Choose a meat or fish dish (roast pork, chicken, cold cuts, tuna, shrimp, etc.) and serve with potatoes, rice or cold pasta. Then round off your meal with as many cooked or raw vegetables as you like: fresh, frozen, canned or in soup! Some raw vegetables are easy to find in bags in the fresh produce section (grated carrots, celery, salads, cherry tomatoes, etc.). Many vegetables are available year-round in tinned or frozen form (mushrooms, spinach, leeks or cauliflower in cream sauce, etc.).
Are you familiar with en papillote cooking? Easy to prepare, it's ideal for preserving the most intimate flavors of our dishes. Simply wrap the ingredients in aluminum foil (or parchment paper), place in the oven for 15 minutes or so, and you're ready to go. (It's important to seal the foil tightly, so that the cooking juices don't run out). In just a few minutes, you can prepare a piece of fish, for example, accompanied by a few slices of tomato and a slice of cheese, all flavored to taste.
As for desserts and snacks, don't forget fruit (fresh, canned, skewered, in salads...), yogurts (plain, with fruit...), cereals, pancakes, ice creams, clafoutis, puddings, pastries, cookies..
Last but not least, you'll find a whole host of websites offering quick recipes and advice on cooking, preparing and/or preserving food. And don't hesitate to ask friends and family for recipes
