The compulsive buyer is either permanently or intermittently gripped by an irrepressible urge to acquire objects. It is the acquisition, not the possession, of the object that calms the tension or anxiety. If the purchase cannot be made, for financial reasons in particular, the person feels very frustrated. On the other hand, it's not uncommon to feel a strong sense of guilt once the purchase has been made, which often leads to financial and family difficulties.
The Internet is an almost limitless showcase for these compulsive buyers. All it takes is a credit card to satisfy this irrepressible impulse...
Alongside the classic buyers, there are also online "stock marketers", who are perhaps more akin to gamblers..
